Data privacy 🔒

Short enough to actually read. We collect little ourselves — but the site is supported by advertising, so this page also spells out exactly what that involves.

Who we are. returnsview (returnsview.com), reachable at hi@returnsview.com — also the address for anything privacy-related below.

If you just browse:we don't require an account. The only data we collect ourselves is what any web server sees — standard hosting logs (IP address, request, timestamp) kept briefly by our host, AWS, for security and operations (legal basis: legitimate interest). Analytics and advertising cookies only run with your consent, described below.

Analytics. If you consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages and heatmaps people use (aggregate, no payment or identity data). Legal basis: your consent, withdrawable any time below.

Advertising. This site shows ads served through Google AdSense. To do this, Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits here and/or elsewhere.
• Where required (the EEA, UK and Switzerland), personalized ads and non-essential cookies run only after you consent through our Google-certified consent message; you can grant, refuse, or change your choice at any time via that message. Without consent, any ads shown are limited to non-personalized.
• You can opt out of personalized Google advertising at Google Ads Settings, and out of many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu.
• How Google uses data from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Affiliate links.Some outbound links are affiliate links: if you follow one and sign up or purchase, we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Following an affiliate link takes you to a third-party site that sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy, which we don't control. We don't place affiliate tracking scripts on returnsview itself, so using the site sets no affiliate cookies unless you click through. See our affiliate disclosure for how this works.

If you create an account: we store your email address and your watchlist (which assets you starred) — nothing else. No name, no profile, no marketing list. This lives with our authentication provider, Supabase, and exists solely to sync your watchlist (legal basis: performing the service you asked for). Sign-in emails route through supabase.co; if you use Google sign-in, Google tells us your email address and nothing more. We do not link your account to advertising.

Cookies & storage. Essential: theme preference, your login session (only when signed in), and your consent choices (all localStorage). With analytics consent: Google Analytics cookies. With advertising consent (or as non-personalized where allowed): Google AdSense / DoubleClick cookies (e.g. __gads, __gpi) set by Google and its ad partners. The consent message lets you review and control the non-essential ones.

Processors & partners.AWS (hosting/CDN), Supabase (accounts & watchlists), Google (analytics if consented; advertising via AdSense and its certified ad partners; sign-in if you choose it; our mailbox). Google's ad partners are listed within the consent message. We do not sell your personal data.

US state privacy (CCPA/CPRA & similar).We do not sell your personal information for money. Serving personalized ads may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under some US state laws; you can opt out via the consent/privacy controls on this site and Google Ads Settings. California and other state residents may exercise access and deletion rights by emailing hi@returnsview.com.

Children. This site is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data or show them personalized ads.

Retention.Account data: until you delete your account. Analytics: 14 months, then Google aggregates it away. Ad cookies: per Google's retention, controllable via the links above. Hosting logs: weeks, not years.

Your rights (GDPR). Access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent — email hi@returnsview.com and we'll handle it within 30 days; deletion requests remove your account and watchlist entirely. Your watchlist is also visible on its page any time. You can complain to your local supervisory authority, though we'd appreciate the chance to fix things first.
